Space Junk

Space junk chronicles the epic tale of a broken galaxy fractured by a thousand years of war…a food war. The players' delicious junk-food ship must maneuver through the vastness of space to eliminate its mortal enemy, the deadliest food in the galaxy--healthy food. Dodging organic, all-natural, sugar-free enemy fire, the player fights their way to where, deep in space, the enemies are spawning. Can the player find the source of their enemies and destroy them once and for all? 

Using the simple, classic base of a “Shoot ‘em up,” or STG game, Space Junk is a playful spoof on the space shooter genre. Taking inspiration from 80’s arcade gaming, as well as “Cute ‘em ups,” Space Junk aims to make simple mechanics wildly fun and focuses on quality rather than quantity. 

The game treads the extremes of retro and new-age, with realistic graphics depicting physic-breaking and impossible gameplay. Space Junk juxtaposes satisfying game mechanics and beautifully rendered environments with hilarious ketchup explosions and deadly flying Brussel sprouts. 

In this epically fun environment, the game takes the player through 4 levels of a brutal food pyramid, until they make it to the ultimate boss. 

In addition to emphasizing player reaction time, the game also relies on the players' ability to memorize enemy attack patterns and the strategy of weapon choice best suited to specific enemies and utilized to navigate a level. 

The game also incorporates roguelike elements, to help give the player the feeling of a new experience every time the game is played through. Inspiration for some of the roguelike mechanics come from games like the binding of isaac and enter the gungeon.
